Founder, 1979
John spent seven years with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division before founding EMS in 1979 to meet the need for qualified, experienced wastewater professionals. The regulatory grounding he brought is still how EMS works today: know the permit, know the process, and tell the owner plainly what the system needs.

Michael "Mike" Sams
President, Environmental Management Services, Inc.
Michael Sams joined EMS in May 2000 and worked up from field operations through Field Manager, Operations Director and Vice President to President. He helped launch the EMS Construction division in 2015, keeping installations, repairs and emergency work in-house. His crews build and maintain the same systems EMS operates every day. He works with utilities across three states from his home in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
